assurant miami
The Assurant Miami office transformation went beyond a single renovation and set the foundation for a new workplace standard across the company’s portfolio. Designed in partnership with Perkins+Will and delivered alongside CBRE, Ware Malcomb, and HITT, the three-floor renovation reimagined the traditional corporate office into a hospitality-inspired destination focused on employee experience, flexibility, and long-term scalability.
The 78,000 sq. ft. project included furnishings across workstations, private offices, conference rooms, breakrooms, and ancillary spaces. With a vision centered around creating spaces employees genuinely wanted to return to, Assurant sought to move away from traditional, storage-heavy office layouts in favor of a more open, minimalist, and design-forward environment.
Creating a New Workplace Standard
Built for the Future
One of the project’s primary goals was establishing a workplace standard that could be consistently implemented across future Assurant locations. In addition to elevating the employee experience, the company wanted to streamline procurement through a (MSA) Master Service Agreement with a primary furniture manufacturer to maximize purchasing power and secure long-term value.
Corporate Environments collaborated closely with the project team to identify solutions that aligned with both the aesthetic vision and operational goals while driving the best possible pricing to maintain budget alignment. Products from MillerKnoll, OFS, Darran, and Enwork were carefully curated to create a cohesive environment that felt elevated and modern.
One of the project’s largest challenges was maintaining the schedule while multiple trades continued working throughout the building during construction. The team remained flexible throughout installation, working closely with HITT and maintaining transparent communication with the client as site conditions evolved in real time.
Additional solutions, including demountable walls, helped support adaptability throughout the space while contributing to the project’s clean and modern aesthetic.
The final workplace balances minimalism with functionality, integrating employee-focused amenities including lounge areas, café-style spaces, coffee bars, and collaborative gathering zones that support Assurant’s return-to-office strategy.
Setting the Standard
While MillerKnoll was not initially the preferred solution, showroom tours, factory visits, and strong collaboration ultimately helped win over the client team and establish a new furniture standard moving forward.
The success of the Miami office has since led to the rollout of similar workplace standards in additional Assurant locations including Toronto, Lewisville, Houston, and Argentina — reinforcing the project’s role as a foundational step in an ongoing partnership.
Described by the team as “Miami through and through,” the final space delivers a strong wow factor while showcasing sustainability, elevated design, and a fresh vision for the future workplace.
